What We Believe

About the Bible

  • The Holy Scriptures define our faith and life. We accept and believe that the Bible is the inerrant and infallible written Word of God, given and preserved by the Holy Spirit for our salvation and instruction.

  • As God's final written word, the Bible is complete, accurate and trustworthy in all its parts.

  • As brief and true statements of the doctrines of the Word of God, we accept and confess the Apostolic, Nicene and Athanasian Creeds.

About the Church

  • As stated by the Augsburg Confession, we believe that "the church is the congregation of saints [true believers] in which the gospel is rightly taught and the sacraments are rightly administered."

  • The church consists of people who in their hearts truly believe in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and submit to the full authority of the Word of God.

About Worship

  • The Word of God must be the central part of the worship service.

  • True Gospel preaching tries to meet the needs of all who hear, including the believer who desires to grow in his life with God, the seeking and uncertain soul who wants to see God, the hypocrite who must be awakened from his self-righteousness and the hardened sinner who must be called to saving faith.

  • We encourage simplicity in worship and want to avoid letting any "order of worship" become only an empty form.

About the Sacraments

  • Baptism and the Lord's Supper must be met with the response of faith in our heart to be effective for our benefit.

  • The sacraments are not something we do for ourselves or for God but a means by which He reaches us with His grace
