Isaiah 53:4-6 Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.
As we enter the new year we think ahead. We need also to remember the recent past and all the past. It is good to remember to be able to go ahead. Knowing what is taught in God’s Word, although of old, gives us guidance and peace for our present and future lives. Knowing Isaiah’s predictions came to be and what that does for us helps us to be free to go ahead. For surely he, that is Jesus Christ, took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows; that will set us free to carry on with life. Verse 6’s first line can be a burdon but the next part tells us the Lord takes care of all for us. Our call is to trust Him and then we are free to go ahead.
God Bless each one this New Year, Pastor LeRoy
