Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
In the Hymn “Love Divine, All Loves Excelling” it tells us it is the “joy of heaven to earth come down!” We as God’s chosen people are a blessed people. Our Lord begins our guidance, as we are studying in confirmation, with “You shall have no other gods before Me.” Meaning we are the love the Lord our God first and as Jesus, and the rest of the commandment teach, we are to love also our neighbor as ourselves. We also have the call to have the Triune God to “fix in us Thy humble dwelling.” (from “Love Divine, All Loves Excelling.) In deed, we are a blessed people who should, must clothe ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, and patience. Valentine’s Day calls on us to be as Colossians 3:12-14 instructs us. Then indeed the Lord will visit us with His salvation.
